I tapped the wood substrate over a glass slide to get the spores for the photo and I realized afterward that I probably released many immature spores and only got a couple of mature spores in the photos. You may also want to look at the yellow variety in the "Voucher Photos" folder on C drive (same voucher number). The spores are round and some are larger. I'm still not convinced that the yellow form is the same species as the white form. I say this because the spores are so different in shape. I believe further chemical testing needs to be performed on this species to confirm that the white and yellow forms are only due to environmental conditions. |
